I had a well functioning Win98. My son decided that it
was time to get XP,so he loaded XP Home Edition and it is
working very well.Unfortunately I seem to have lost all
my programmes and files that I had with Win98 e.g.ACDSee
and all my albums. My son swears that he did not delete
anything.
Is there any way that I can recover these programmed and
especially the files. Do I need to get special software
to do this?
I really need help tp recover those files. Please help me,
I am desperate

From what I understand your son had the choice of setting
things up to dual boot (when you start the computer you
would be offered a choice as to which operating system you
wanted to use - 98 or XP) or of re-partitioning/formatting
the hard drive and only using XP. If you are not being
offered a choice of operating systems at boot time then,
as far as I am aware, your data is lost. It would not be
necessary to delete anything and you are left with your
most recent back-up.
