My PC is after becoming rather slow on boot up. I was
thinking of re-formatting my hard drive in order to start
clean and allow for faster boot up. However I thought I
would try other methods to gain speed and am asking for
any suggestions anyone has.

Have you run a virus scan recently if not try that and

defragment hard drive to see if that helps.
