I am not able to map a drive on Windows XP workstation to
the alias server share.

I have "server1alias" that replaced the "server1" and it's
all shares.
I can map to the \\server1alias\share without having
problems.
I can not map a drive to server1\share.
"Server1" has a DNS alias setup to pint to "server1alias".

Both of the servers are Windows 2000 servers.

Plz send an email if you can help.

Thx
Mukesh

We are having the same problem. Our log in script maps
drives to DFS shares ( \\dns-network-name\sharename\ ).
This does not work in XP Professional but works in 2K
Professional. I can map to \\servername\sharename\. If I
do \\dns-network-name in the Run box I get a listing of
all the network DFS shares but cannot connect to them. The
net command returns a 1351 error. Someone please respond
to us.

Hi,

You need SP3 or later and to configure the registy change as recommended by
this KB article:

281308 Connecting to SMB Share on a Windows 2000-Based Server May Not Work
with
http://support.microsoft.com/?id=281308

SP3 is applied to the server.

I also checked the Q281308 and we have everything applied
on this server
Any other suggestions?
