Hi, a friend of mine is having problems with a new PC he's recently built.
He's asked me for help, but I can't, so I thought I'd ask for help here.

When he installs XP it goes through the installation, formatting, loads
drivers then halts saying windows installation can't continue. He's tried 3
different hard drives but the outcome is always the same.

I'm sorry it's a bit brief but he hasn't given me much info to go on. I
just thought it might ring-a-bell with somebody.

Thanks in advance for any assistance.

I've had this happen with an old HD cable.

You might try to install from the hard drive.

How to copy Windows contents to hard drive from CD prior
to install:

I would try the command that copies all from CD to HDD
before it runs setup

You use three switches. If D: is the target, and G: is the
source drive.

G:\i386\winnt32 /tempdrive:D /makelocalsource /s:G:\i386

Does it say WHY it can't continue?

Most times this is an indicaton of bad RAM. I would check there first.
