Windows XP - Windows NT

I am currently running Windows NT 4.0 on a Hewlett Packard
Kayak XA with a Pentium II MHX processor. I was told that
I could use Windows XP to upgrade and that this would work
with my computer. Can someone tell me if this is correct
information please?
