Richard

I installed a new mother board and processor and now
windows xp will not run.

I continue to get an error that states that windows did
not start properly and it asks me to select an option to
either start normally, safe mode, or to a network.

It won't start in any of the choices. I thought the worse
case senario would have been to start in safe mode and
install the new drivers.

Any thoughts?

Thanks

Usually you have to do a Repair/Install of XP after a new motherboard.
There is a KB article that describes the process very well but it boils
down to booting you XP CD and proceeding just as though you were going
to do a new install. When you accept the license agreement you will
then be asked if you want to do a repair or new install. Choose R for
repair and let it run. You will not loose any customization or
installed programs but you will have to reinstall any updates. You
probably will have to reactivate but that is no big deal.

I've done it once on each of my machines.

Go for it
