Am getting Run-time Error " 53: File Not Found" and "70: Permission Denied"
How do I replace these files or correct the situation. I am now unable to
load
any Antivirus software or Windows Defender?

Please see the many answers you got in the other newsgroups to which you
multiposted.

Multiposting will get you *less* help; crosspost judiciously instead.

TrueBrit,

Have you tried using System Restore to roll the system back to just
before this behavior occurred ?

If that doesn't resolve the issue, suggest you download Sysclean from
TrendMicro and run it from within Safe Mode with Command Prompt.
http://www.trendmicro.com/download/dcs.asp
Download the Sysclean package from the link on the above page.
Create a folder on the root drive (eg. C:\) and name it Sysclean.
Move sysclean.com to that folder.

Download the latest pattern file from :
http://www.trendmicro.com/download/pattern-cpr-disclaimer.asp

Accept the agreement. Click :
http://www.trendmicro.com/ftp/products/pattern/cpr/lpt472.zip

Extract the contents of the .zip folder to C:\Sysclean.
Restart the system to Safe Mode with Command Prompt :
http://www.microsoft.com/resources/documentation/windows/xp/all/proddocs/en-us/boot_failsafe.mspx?

At the prompt, type in

cd C:\Sysclean

Press Enter. Now type in

sysclean.com

Press Enter.

The GUI will appear. Click the Scan button.
When the detection and removal is finished, do another scan.

Restart the system to normal Windows mode. Hopefully, the system will
now allow you to install an antivirus program.

Are other programs and functions still working on the computer?

It is possible that some malware item got past your Antivirus software
and Windows Defender and it is now blocking these items from loading.

Try booting your computer into "Safe Mode with Networking" and then go
to http://housecall.trendmicro.com and run their free online scanner.

To boot the computer into "Safe Mode with Networking" turn it on and
start tapping the F8 key rapidly just as soon as the first information
of any kind shows on the screen. Keep tapping until the Windows XP
Startup Menu is displayed and choose "Safe Mode with Networking" from
the menu.

Good luck

The computer will be vulnerable in Safe Mode with Networking without any
protections + the online scan can only identify the problem but cannot
eliminate it .

The problem cannot come from Windows Defender since it also cannot be
loaded.It is malware.
