Edit your boot.ini file to remove the Windows 98 reference, or set the
timeout to zero. To do this, right click on the My Computer icon and
select Properties. There go to the Advanced tab and click the Settings
button under Startup and Recovery. Under System startup make sure that
Windows XP is select as the default operating system. Then click the
edit button to open your boot.ini file for editing. In the [operating
systems] section comment out the line that refers to Windows 98 by
placing a semi-colon at the beginning of the line. Save the file. Now
when you reboot the PC it should boot straight into XP without
prompting you.

Use Start - Run - MSCONFIG.

Go to the BOOT.INI tab and click on the "Check all boot paths" button.

This assumes that Windows 98 has been deleted from the computer.

Good luck
