Focus on one question per thread. If you ask multiple questions on
UNRELATED topics then don't expect all or even most of them to get
addressed.
Do you actually find a dcsa.exe file on your host (make sure to include
hidden files in the search)? Did you recently clean out some malware?
This could be a remnant startup entry in the registry that was left
behind (since often the cleanup by anti-malware programs focuses on
getting rid of the pest and not every trace of it, especially if it
hasn't anything to do with the pest itself).
Use SysInternals' AutoRuns to show all startup items for Windows.
msconfig.exe (included in Windows) only shows the common startup items
in the Startup folder in the Start menu and the Run keys in the registry
but there are lots more startup locations in the registry that AutoRuns
will show. You can even do a search on "dsca" to see if any startup
items have that string in them (as a filename).
What did upgrading to another version of Windows beyond your current
version have to do with your question about dsca?
Why do you need to backup *programs*? After installing the new OS
(which should always be a fresh install), just get the install discs for
the applications and reinstall them. It's the data files that you need
to backup to ensure you keep them. Of course, creating a separate
partition on the same or different hard disk to store your data files is
recommended so they are separate from the partition in which you
[re]install the OS.
