Does anyone know what would cause Windows XP to be
extremely slow at start up? I understand drives have to
download, but almost 3 min. of waiting for the hour glass
to go away is ridiculous. Thanks for your help!

Wow!!

just what i was looking for but i see that the techs are
to busy LOL

ive been having the same problem for the past few weeks.
when i do a "safe mode" i have the drivers loaded run by
me and then the computer locks up at my display driver.
ive rebooted several times but no good. so i go into vga
safemode and then ( well after pushing ctrl+esc many
times) get the puppy to go into safe mode. the only thing
that ive done (i want to look somewhere else though) is to
do a system restore. im running cakewalk pro with 1GB of
ram. i dont have the other details since this is a church
computer. im thinking i might need to make a partition of
the drive. we curently have an 80GB drive and we do "real-
time" recording. also the page file is 2500mb should i
make the partition and place the page file on the
secondary partition or? ( i need some help to free up some
memory. im not sure what i can turn off or leave on (
more below...)

im looking to shut some proccesses down so that xp can
boot faster. where can i find a listing of the Task
Manager programs and to see what is essential in the boot-
up.

please reply ASAP

thank you
steven

Thanks Rhonda,

I too have done the same thing, but there must be a
better fix than that.
