Windows XP SP2 Installation

I have a relatively new Dell XPS Gen 5 computer (09/2005) which had Windows
XP Professional with Service Pack 2 installed at the factory among the
Windows XP Professional suite of tools . When I navigate to Start/Control
Panel/Add or Remove Programs dialogue box I do not find an entry for Windows
XP SP2. I have Windows Auto Updates turned on and have received all the high
priority updates over the past 6 months. Plus I have manually downloaded
those that fall into the "Express" or optional category. Would the missing
Windows XP SP2 entry be critical to my overall system stability and security?

Control panel/system
Look under the 'System:' heading - you should see which version of XP is
installed.

Since SP2 was integrated into your XP factory installation
there will be no entry for it in Add or Remove Programs.
Uninstalling SP2 is not an option on your computer.

The entry for SP2 only appears on a system that had the service
pack applied after XP was installed. Those systems either had
no service packs or SP1 installed. Once SP2 was applied it was
listed in Add or Remove Programs in case it needed to be
uninstalled.

For your own peace of mind go to Start -> Run and enter winver
in the Open box. Click OK. You should see Service Pack 2 listed
at the end of the Version line.
