Windows XP SP2 Automatic Update problem

I'm new at this so I hope I get it right THIS time!

Running Windows XP SP2.
When I boot up I get the following message:

RUNDLL
Error loading C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\valcesfk.dll
The specified module could not be found

The boot-up seems to go normally and I close the little message window and
all seems normal, although the computer is running horribly slow.
Any ideas on what this message means and how I can get rid of it or fix
the problem?

Also, my Automatic Updates have been turned off (I don't know how) and when
I go to Control Panel/Systems/Automatic Update to fix it, I can't. Both the
options are greyed out and I can't change either of them. Going through the
Security Center doesn't work either. Trying that I get the message that it
can't do it.

Any answers on this one also.

Thanks guys.

Sorry to tell you this, but this is a .Net Programming newsgroup. For help
