Windows XP would not start on my current hard drive. I
wanted to try to retrieve some of the files on the drive
so, I installed an additional hard drive and made the one
that wouldn't start a slave. Once windows XP was
installed on the new drive, I was able to see files on my
old drive, now the slave drive. However, on that
instance of windows, 2 of the users chose the security
protocol that would not permit other users to see their
files. I am not able to see the files and folders for
those 2 users ....I get access denied. I created the
same logins on the new instance of windows with the same
passwords but, they are somehow different. So, at this
point, files under those folders are unobtainable.

Is there a way to reset that security and view those
files? Even the owner of the windows instance can't view
the folders.

I have a simular problem, however, mine started when I
downloaded a Microsoft security update and it corrupted
my Master Boot Record! GRRRRRR!!! I recovered the MBR
with Norton but still could not boot from that disk.

I can see my folders, I have the same security protocols
on the new XP disk, same password, same user name but I
still can't retrieve any files!

Oh by the way, Don't trust Back up! I tried to do a back
up recovery on a new HD and it only recognized the first
disk and after loading (0r doing something) said recovery
complete.

Macintosh G4's are starting to look very attractive.
