I recently bought a magazine entitled "Microsoft Windows XP the Official
Magazine." It hada CD in it containing WinAntivir2005. I went to install it
and got a message from Panda that it was hijacking software. I went to check
that out and Panda gave me an entire encylopedia explanation of its
conclusion that this is hijacking software.
1. Is this official Microsoft stuff or not?
2. Is WinAntivir2005 a hijacking software?
3. Should I disable Panda to install from the CD?
Thanks in advance. Robert

I can't believe that the magazine would include such vile spyware!*
Outrageous. WinAntivir is evil, garbage, and your Panda did its job
well. WinAntivir is not "official MS stuff" and I have no idea if the
magazine is from MS or not. If the magazine really is officially from
MS, then you definitely ought to contact them and complain.

Absolutely you should *not* install WinAntivir.

* I don't mean I don't believe you, just that I'm flabbergasted that
anyone or thing connected with MS would be so stupid as to provide
malware as a legitimate program.

I did a search of this magazine title and it has a .uk website. It does not
appear to be Microsoft property. You might want to check to see who really
published the magazine. Details can usually be found within the first page
or two.

Unofrtunately, it was in a cellophane package, so i couldn't do that before
buying it at Barnes and Noble. I plan to return it today.
