Windows XP - savoing web based pics

When I right cIick to save a web based pisture, I am given no options other than bmp or art files, even though the picture I am copying is a jpg. No options other than bmp or art are displayed. What is going on? I have never had this problem on any other version of Windows. Can anyone help me fix this? Surely there is something simple I need to do to correct it.
