Windows XP remote desktop works very slow

Hello,

I'm using windows XP sp2.

I have few servers which is very difficult for me to work with.

The response for the keyword and mouse is very slow, and sometimes the
connection even break.
I also did the connection to work with 256 colors , and in the
performance I disabled everything - and still very very slow.

The network speed of my computer and of the remote computer is very
fast - so that isn't the problem.

I read some articles about the same problem in windows vista.

Can you please advice how can I fix this problem
