Windows XP reloads

In the past month, Windows XP has crashed, forcing a
reload. First was due to a boot.ini file, now the config
is corrupt.

Each time, after reloading XP, I have to download all the
upgrades for XP, which takes time over a 56K dial up. Is
there a way to backup the upgrades and reload them from a
disk, CD, or Zip drive when I have to reload the OS?

- Thanks

Hi

You can download the updates manually and then burn them to a CD - AFAIK there is no way to backup the updates after they have been installed:

Go to the WU page and then click on 'Windows Update Catalogue'.

Thanks for the info. In cannot find the Windows Update
Catalogue you referred to. I find a lot about Windows
Update, and a lot about the Windows catalog for hardware,
software, etc. but not the WUC.

Also, when I download the Windows updates, where are they
saved to? Are they all those funny named subdirectories
in the Windows directory that keep appearing after I
upgrade XP?
