I initially had Microsoft Works on my computer in 2000,
then I upgraded to Windows XP in 2002. Recently, my
compuer crashed and Gateway support had me reinstall my
operating system. However, when I tried to reinstall my
Windows XP from disk, and prompt informing me that a
setup file was either invalid or corrupted came up. Do I
need to download a more new version of installer or
what? How do I get Windows XP back on my computer?
Thanks.

The CD may be defective. See "How to Replace Lost, Broken, or Missing
Microsoft Software or Hardware"
(http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=326246) if this is a true Windows
CD.
