I have a laptop, with Windows XP SP3, which stops at the "Hardware
Profile/Configuration Recovery Menu" every time the computer starts. Cold or
warm boot makes no difference. I tried changing the "Select the first
profile listed..........." option in Hardware Profiles to both 0, then tried
1, but it still stops at that menu. I also tried changing "Time do display
recovery options" in the Advanced-Startup & Recovery tab, still stops at
that menu. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

.

Sounds like a hardware failure since the machine isn't even getting to the
Windows startup screen. Time to take it to a reputable shop.

I forgot to mention that I can hit "ENTER" when it is at the Recovery Menu
and the computer boots just fine. I do not think there is a hardware issue.

Well, certainly not a Windows issue since it hangs before Windows is even
starting up, and it boots fine when you press "Enter". Check the boot device
order in the BIOS and place the hard drive first. If there is a floppy disk,
or a CD in either drive, remove it. If it still doesn't work, since this is
not a problem with Windows, it's time to go to the shop.
