Hi,

We have an XP box act as a file server. We access the
files OK. But sometimes, when we want to access a drive
on the server, we get a prompt saying "insufficient
network connections" to that effect. We rebooted the
server. That corrected the problem. Anyone has ideas on
this problem and solution?

Thanks.

There's an inbound connection limit.
XP home and Pro are client OSes, not server OSes.

XP Home : 5 machines can be simultaneously connected;
XP Pro: 10 machines can be simultaneously connected.

It's detailled here:
Inbound Connections Limit in Windows XP
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;314882

If you think you're getting knocked back before the connection limit is
reached, then you can read through this:

Troubleshooting Server Message Block Inbound Connection Limit
in Windows Peer-to-Peer Workgroup
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;328459

If you need more inbound connections, then you need to look at
getting a proper server OS like win2000 server.

Ron,

Thanks for your information.
