Hi there!

Have just started to use this version of windows and
think it is fine. However, I cannot find a word
processing program anywhere on the machine?

I guess I am ignorant and so either cannot fathom out
where it could be, or - maybe this version of windows
does not have this program?

Previously I have had windows 98 and windows 2000.

I would be grateful even if one of you tells me I am
stupid and should have known XP does not have this?

Thanks for reading this anyway.

There is Word Pad on XP (start>allprogram>accessories>wordpad) This also
came with most versions of Windows. However, you may be thinking of
Microsoft Word. This does not come with XP. If you want Microsoft Word or
any of the other Office applications you need to by them seperately or as a
combination in Microsoft Office.
For basic stuff, though, word pad should suffice.

John's answer is of course correct.

If you would like to try a free office suite that has similar capabilities
to Microsoft Office consider Open Office available at www.openoffice.org

No version of Windows has ever included Word. You may have had Word
installed on your previous computers, but it wasn't a part of Windows.
