Pam

I upgraded Windows XP Home to Professional about three weeks ago and have
not been able to establish a dialup connection.

I posted a query about this problem on this newsgroup and got several
responses. I got the free Security Update February 2004 disk from Microsoft
in the mail yesterday and have installed that. I still am not able to
establish a dial up connection.

I have the 329441 Knowledge Base article and have deleted 25 and 26. I
still get the Error 711 and 1085 and 1086 messages.

Can anyone help me any further, please?

Hi Pam,

Without knowing what you've already tried, I would first verify that the
modem is working correctly. Use the modem diagnostics, as the upgrade may
have replaced a proprietary driver with a generic one hence you are unable
to connect. See:

Resources for Troubleshooting Modem Problems in Windows XP

Once you have verifed conclusively that it is not a modem issue, then we can
look at software conflicts.
