Hello all

My PC at home is not playing ball at all. Can anyone help
me with a problem. Windows XP Pro will not launch. I keep
getting an error message UNMOUNTABLE_BOOT_VOLUME. I
understand from reading some text on the website that it
may be that my UDMA cable is only 40 wire, when I may need
80 wire. What is a UDMA cable in laymans terms? Is it the
cable that connects from the wall into my PC ? Please
excuse my ignorance any info much appreciated.

Hi,

You seem top have done some research on this problem (nice
to see people not just posting without even trying).

The UDMA cable is what connects your harddrive to the
motherboard (see link below)

The 80 pin variety have blue end connectors.
Follow the advice in the first KB article I posted in this
message and you should sort the problem out.

its the cable from the back of ur hard drive to the
motherboard(big square thing everything is plugged
into)
