Hi,
I'm a software developer and I have a MSDE subscription though work, plus a
separate XP pro license for my home computer.
When I build my home system, I bought XP Pro 32 bit OEM and stuck the
sticker on it.. what can I say, the retail version was far too expensive and
I needed XP Pro.
I upgraded the motherboard and CPU to an AMD Athlon 64 some time later.
Unlucky for me, the "Windows XP Professional x64 Edition Technology
Advancement Program" had just expired so I stayed with 32 bit.
Now I want to use a Windows XP 64 at home. I'm going to evaluate it, but
assuming that I like it and want to actually "use" it, what can I do?
I cant sell or transfer my existing license, I can't get support on my
current microsoft product (as its OEM), and I can't upgrade my licencse to XP
Pro 64 becasue the Tech. advancement program has expired.
Can anyone suggest anything?
If buying a new copy of Windows is the only solution, is there any way for
me to get a rebate or discount?
I don't see why Microsoft is not still keen to get XP x64 into the hands of
enthusiasts and developers - perhaps they want me to get Vista instead.
Cheers,
Pete
