I work at the State Department and in the process of
rolling out Windows XP Professional to over 1200 PCs.
Our workstation security is very strict, it is mandatory
and determined by a specific group at the State
Department. In the local security settings, security
options settings, they have devices: Prevent users from
installing printer drivers enabled. This setting
prevents any user from installing a printer (local or
network). Also, they won't allow us to install network
printers locally as Admins using Standard TCP/IP because
it will bypass the print server, they want to be able to
trace printer activity on the print server. Is there any
way to setup network printing as an Admin, that will
allow users to print to network printers and use the
print queue on the print server?
