Windows XP Pro Update - Error KB922582

Windows keeps trying to install an update marked as above.

Doesn't install, and error msg reads: "The following updates were not
installed / Windows XP KB922582"

The fixes at MS Support don't fix. They're for Windows Server and
Windows XP x64 (???).

When I download and try these fixes, my system informs that ___.exe is
not a Win32 application.

I've checked the box marked "do not install this update" because I'm
sick of it trying.

Do I need this update? If so, how do I install it?

I would suggest you post your question to the experts in the Windows Update
newsgroup and scan it for any posts relating to your issue.
