Windows XP Pro - Strange Reboot Errors

I have a client with a Windows XP Pro machine, running Service Pack 2,
700Mhz, 256MB RAM.

Problem is, after about 15 minutes of no activity on the PC, the machine
will just shut down and then restart itself. If there are any programs open
such as Excel or Word, all data will be lost and I will return to find the
Windows XP Welcome Screen.

I have checked the Power Options, everything is set to NEVER, also
Hibernation is UNCHECKED.

The PC is plugged directly into the wall, and there are no power problems
in the building because other Windows XP machines do not have the same
issue.

As long as somebody is working on the machine, no matter how much time
passes there is no problem, its just when the machine sits completely idle
for 15+ minutes it will just SHUT DOWN and restart itself.

VERY, VERY strange, any ideas would be much appreciated.

Thanks,
Tommy

You checked the other power options but what about just the screensaver?
Also, remember that MS Office usually has a way to restore recent lost
documents.

Yes, the backup directory, which has to be set up and autosave times set.

Oops, forgot to add - viruses?, spyware, etc.

What type of motherboard do you have? There is documented info on
motherboards that are Prescott ready that have problems with SP2. To rule
this out, go to your motherboard's web site and download/install latest bios.
I experienced the same thing with a Soyo P4I865PE motherboard. Drove me
nuts!!!
