Hi ppl

Hope someone can help me with a little problem I seem to be having since I
installed SP2 on 1 of my PC's

I run XP Pro and play alot of online games, To connect to most of these
games I use an application called " The All Seeing Eye" which helps me find
games server to play on. Since installing XP SP2 it will not work at all. I
placed a post on the forum for this application and was told it was a
firewall that stopped it, So I turned off firewall but still it will not
work. Can anyone give me advice on whats wrong and help with fixing my
problem.
I do have another PC running XP home with SP2 installed and the program
still works fine on that PC.
Any help with this problem would be greatly recived

Regards
Gary

Turn the firewall back on. Have you tried putting whatever site the program
connects to in the Trusted Sites section?

Ok I have tried it with prgram on trusted/allowed with fire wall on and off.

Reinstalling is another problem. To instal this program you download an exe
which starts installation via a download centre... when trying to reinstall
the rpoblem started I found it will also not connect to the download server
again this works fine on my PC running XP Home with service pack 2.

Problem now fixed ....
If you too have the same problem as me this might help.... This is how I got
it to work ..

Turn Windows Firewall OFF
Turn Other Firwall ON ( My case Zone Alarm Pro )
Bingo ... sorted .. that simple

Just turning off Windows firewall did not work until I turned my old ( Zone
Alarm Pro ) Firewall back on ...

Job done .... Conclusion = Windows firewall sucks !!!!!!!!

Hi Pure,

Actually, it sounds like you turned off the Zone Alarm interface
but left the VSMON service running on your system, in which
case it wouldn't allow the program to connect regardless if you
have the SP2 firewall on or off. To test my theory, stop the ZA
processes via task manager next time to see if ASE connects. :-)
