Windows XP Pro SP2--SP2 has seemingly disappeared

I tried to uninstall a program I no longer needed, but a popup message said I
could not because I did not have XP SP2 on my computer. I know that I
installed SP2 long ago by download, and in fact am currently running SP3.
Can I safely reinstall SP2 by download? I don't want to uninstall and
reinstall Windows and start from scratch with that. Does anyone have any
idea how my SP2 apparently vanished?

Immediate history: I got fed up with Pinnacle Studio v. 10.7 and since it is
no longer supported I purchased v. 12 and installed it by download. Then
when I tried to uninstall v. 10 I was stopped by the message as stated above.

In the tree on the left, first open the English category, then openWindows.
In Windows, find and open the Windows XP category.
In Windows XP , find a group to post in.
