windows xp pro restarts

I have xp pro sp3 installed. Everything worked fine untill a few weeks ago,
(it worked fine for several months)

when pc starts, I'm getting the screen where I can choose how I want to
continue: save mode, ... etc.

Problem, is: whatever I choose , the system doesn't come further then the
screen that shows the name "windows xp" and under it that blue line (meaning
that xp is loading)

at this moment, compter restarts.

I tried to understand the bootproces:

At this stage, the harddevices are loaded, could there be a problem with my
interrupts? if so, how can this happen (i worked great for a while)

It's not the power supply because my pc is on for more then an our now
without restarting( it's on the biosscreen (press f1 to continue).

I have tried to use "recovery console " by starting from cd. It went great,
for a while:

I used the command listsvc to see the services that are loaded. After I have
seen them all( it took me some time), I then used disable to disable some
services (f secure, diskette "fltmgr")

Strange but while I was watching my document (on which I wrote the services
which were started at startup), the computer went off (i'm not sure if it
was restarting of just went off but power was still on (green light).

Could someone correct me in my interpretation ?

If someone has a solution, please assist me.

Well as you said you have disabled the Services & then are you able to boot
the computer backup or not !! I consider you are able to reboot.

- Try to unplug the External Devices(Printers camera nd all) & then try to
see how computer behave.
Try to connect the peripheral one by one to check if some of the device
drivers are malfunctioned
Try to boot in to the Safe Mode by the following

If the computer is running, shut down Windows, and then turn off the power
Wait 30 seconds, and then turn the computer on.
Start tapping the F8 key. The Windows Advanced Options Menu appears. If you
begin tapping the F8 key too soon, some computers display a "keyboard error"
message. To resolve this, restart the computer and try again.
Ensure that the Safe mode option is selected.
Press Enter. The computer then begins to start in Safe mode.
When you are finished with all troubleshooting, close all programs and
restart the computer as you normally would.
- Try to update the device drivers
Please provide some more information about the peripherals if there are any.

Above are all the diagnostic steps to find out what's wrong.

Dear Anurag Shukla

The problem have been solven by using chkdsk /r.

I did disable some services but the problem still existed (that is, I still
couldn't boot the system)

Thanks for your help, much appreciated

Kind regards
