Hello,
today i have opened my msconfig and saw some strange thing: an
operation performed at startup and one wasn't performed before:
dumprep0 -k %systemroot%\system32\dumprep0 -k
HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Current Version
where: dumprep0 -k is an item
%systemroot%...... is a command
and HKLM.......... is a location

I'd like to know:
1) what is it?
2)why is it there?
3)what does it mean?

Hi

That entry is used to create 'dump' files, which can then be used to solve any Stop Errors that may occur. You can alter the size of this file - or set it to zero - by right clicking on My Computer, selecting Properties and then the Advanced tab. Under 'Startup and Recovery' click the 'Settings...' button, then have a look in the bottom box. Please note, that if you set this box to 'Complete', the size of the file will be the same as the amount of RAM + 1MB that you have on your system.

Open Help and Support and search for 'dump' - without the quotes. There is some info there that you can read before altering anything.
