When xp boot, it opens c:\windows\system32. All files are
displayed. Any ideas on how to stop this and just open to
the desk top? Thanks.

Visit http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm and scroll down
to Item No. 260. In the right column, click on "System32 Folder Opens
Upon Boot". Download this registry repair file and then run the repair.

Thanks Mr. Frisch, I downloaded the repair file but it did
not work. I went to the registry to the location directed
and non of those remarks were there. When this problem
started I had just installed my scanner (HP scanjet
5100c. There were registry enteries concerning my scanner
so I deleted them. Then my computer booted fine but my
scanner no longer worked. I reinstalled my scanner
softwere and the boot problem reocurred. I then went
into "msconfig) and those scanner commands were there just
as they had been in the registry. One line in msconfig
setup was blank so I disabled it. Now my computer boots
fine and my scanner works. Thanks for you help. Jimmie
