What is the requirement of Windows XP Professional on CPU
speed e.g. Pentium III 1GHz, or Pentium IV 2.4GHz?

Pentium 2 300 it says on the BOX though it dont say Pentium 2 :)

Though only Pentium 2's came in 300mhz, i think, so my 2ghz CPu is
alittle over kill, and my next PC Amd 64 bit 3400 cpu will make go
back in time speed wise !!!!

I like to give this answer in the minimum I would go/have experienced.

Pentium II 450MHz, 196MB RAM. <- Bare Minimum.
Pentium II 600MHz, 256MB RAM. <- Reasonable Performance.
Anything above 900MHz with 384MB or more of RAM <- Good enough!

If you turn off the Fisher Price UI, it still performs good enough on my old
P2-266 w/128MB RAM laptop. Of course I wouldn't want to use *that* as my
primary system... 8-|

I passed on an old laptop to my brother with similar specs and XP Home
installed. It's not a speed demon but it is very adequate for word
processing, email and light web browsing.

not true - i was reading on a website - i don't remember which it was - but
xp will run on a pentium 166 - albeit very VERY slowly - the guy just did it
to see what would happen
