My monitor keeps going Black and I do not know why?
I wanted to know from the Users "Which FREE Anti-Virus Download is the best"?
How do begin to understand working with Port Scans?

I can not install Windows SP2 because i have a DDE Server Window that wont close/end.

Overall How do I get my Pc to Max performance?

This is my first time here (thank you)

And I may not be doing this right but i am desperate to find a answer.
Tired of pc and i am not in the position right now to just go out and by a New Computer.

Welcome to PCReview.

Let's deal with these things one at a time :)
1) Tuning Windows - Go to System Properties (Windows Key+Pause/Break Key)
Select the 'Advanced' Tab
Select the 'Settings' Button - In the Performance Area.
Select the 'Adjust for best performance' Radio Button.
Then hit 'OK' Twice.

Now Hit 'Start>RUN'
Type 'MSConfig'
Select the 'Startup' Tab
Now UNSELECT anything which is not critical to your daily use of the PC.
Then hit Apply, and OK.
Reboot and then select the option not to display MSConfig each time you load Windows.

Make sure your C: (OR Wherever Windows is running from has plenty of FREE drive space - at least 30% of your actual drive size!
Defragment it with no other applications running, twice.
Then reboot and defrag again.
[To run Disk Defragmenter... Type Start>RUN, then 'dfrg.msc']

2) GET SP2!
Stop that rogue process using MSCONFIG/Services.msc and if necessary a nice application called 'Killbox'
(You'll have to get this from www.killbox.net) {FREE}

3) Free AV....Take your pick dude ;)

So sorry tht it has taken so long to get back..
Son Homework, grades starting to fall and I had to be there and get back to this at this time.
