Cannot install the Windows XP blaster patch or the
Windows update to a Dell computer with XP Home. Response
states "setup could not verify the integrity of the file
update.inf. Make sure the Cryptographic service is
running on this computer". I confirmed with the host
computer technical that the Crypto service is running?

Further,whenever I go to a site w/Active X, usually
Windows Update, I cant install any patches. I get the
message that my security settings wont allow Active X to
run. In the internet options, I have everything that has
to do with Active X enabled. I cant even install the
Blaster patch!

Thank you!

You need to change your security settings so that your
computer will allow Active X. right click Internet
Explorer then click properties then click on the security
tab and click the custom level tab and change the setting
for the active X control

I too have the same problem on a Viao laptop running XP
Home. When I go to the Windows Update page, it tells me
my Active X controls do not allow me to see them. I have
changed them all to enable to no avail. If I try to
manually install an update from a file, I get the
Integrity issue and crypto services. I have looked on the
KB, but the fix did not fix it. Please help!

Have the same problem & have compared to another computer
& the settings are all the same. One PC works & the
other doesn't. Any other suggestions.
