sudden it wont recognize it. i hear the bong sound but I
cant capture in Arcsoft or Movie maker 2. it says there

I too am having problems with XP not recognizing my Sony DCR-DVD300. I
can't get the "bong" sound but the driver seems to load correctly. I'm
using the Software provided by Sony "Imagemixer". I've tried Pinnacle
as well and still can't get XP to recognize the DVD video cmaera.

As far as the compatibility issue , believe if you click Ok, it will
contiue to load and should recognize it.

I'm having no luck with my JVC camera also.
It did see my old camera at one time...
