I can not get Service Pak 2 or 3 to load. Every time I attempt to get it
from Microsoft I get an error. Something about a possible bad key. When I
go to the Genuine Product area it comes up OK.....any thoughts ? I need
Service pak 2 for my Norton to load.

You need to post the entire error message.

Have you made certain that your computer is ready for SP2?
There was an article which discussed this topic, but it has been so long
that I can't remember the article number. Do not install SP2 unless you
have made certain that your computer is ready.

SP3 will not install on your computer. The computer must be at SP1a or
higher.

You are unable to install the MS Service Pack 2 for Windows Xp. Well in this
case try the following steps.

Try to download the Windows Product key Validation tool to verify that you
are using the genuine version of Windows or not.

http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=52012

Once you will open the above link in your Browser, It'll ask you to download
the tool.
Download the tool & then install it. Once you'll install the tool it'll give
you information about either your product key is the 'Genuine' or not.

Now, I am considering that, tool depicts that you are using the Genuine copy
of windows.
Go to the following link to download the service Pack 2
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...BE-3B8E-4F30-8245-9E368D3CDB5A&displaylang=en

Once the tool, is downloaded. Reboot the computer in to the Safe Mode & try
to install it from the Safe Mode, even you can install it from the Normal
Mode.

If the Windows XP is not genuine, better to contact your System
Manufacturer if the XP was preinstalled or purchase a new copy of Windows.

Hope this'll help

If Norton is on free trial , I would go for something else ; if you`ve
paid for it ........... .
