Windows Xp No longer boots up

I had a Virus on my computer which continued to shut down
my computer using something called the "NT\shutdown
command, beacuse an rpc procedure was terminated." After
this happened for about the tenth time, My system opens up
to the screen where you choose safe modes or normal
operation, and now whenever I choose any option whether
normal mode, safe mode, or last known good system
configuration does not start up, it just freezes, and I
have sat there waiting up to 40 minutes to see if it would
start up, it has not. can anyone help? Thanks.
