Windows XP missing needed file for installation

The computer I am trying to install XP on is currently
using Windows 95. When I put in the CD for WXP, it tells
me that "the file C:\WINDOWS\WINNT32\WINNT32A.DLL could
not be loaded or is corrupt. Setup cannot continue". I
tried to call Support this morning, and spent (literally)
an hour on hold after being assigned a case #. Since I am
using this system at work, I could not hold any longer
waiting for someone to pick up. Since I can't install the
product, I cannot get the product ID to generate an online
support query. Has anyone else experienced this?
Thanks.

Are you trying to do an upgrade or a full installation?? The upgrade version
doesn't support upgrading from W95. For that you need to buy full version
and do a full install.

If a full install, boot from the XP CD (change booting order in
BIOS/Advanced and place CD before HD).

You can't upgrade from Windows 95, you can only use the Win 95 CD as the
qualifier for a clean install.
If the computer was originally shipped with Windows 95, it is a good bet it
will not be up to the task of running XP.
See the links below before attempting a clean install.
