Windows XP missing file and IE 6 problem

When I open internet explorer 6, I get a message stating
that data1.dat file is missing. This is under
WPUpdater. I have looked and looked for this file, but
can not find it. I then will work in IE 6 for
approximately 5 minutes and then my computer freezes,
sometimes going to a webpage called perfect navigator.
It will not go to any further requested webpages. It
states that this page cannot be opened, or won't leave
the perfect navigator webpage. Any ideas what may have
happened to my system and what I may be able to do about
this. Thank you.
