I just purchased a computer with Windows XP Media Center
as the operating system. The version of Movie Maker on
the computer is 1.1.2427.1. Is this a specific version
for Windows XP Media Center addition? I know Movie Maker
2.0 is out, but it suggests Windows XP or WINDOWS XP
Professional as the operating system to use. I'm afaid
to update to 2.0, any suggestions? I'm confused!

Good question! I am also interesting in MM2 because it allows for burning DVD, while MM1 doesn't. MM has some better transitions and titles than the other editing software I have for burning DVDs. I hope someone out there can answer your question soon.

You can upgrade Movie Maker to version 2. My laptop with the Media Center
edition (bought in May of last year) came with version 2, but I was
surprised it did, as most new computers were still coming out with version
1.

You should download and install version 2, but make a copy of version 1
before you do.... it's often handy to use version 1, even after upgrading.
See the Setup > Software page of www.papajohn.org

The Media Center edition is a step higher than XP Pro, but for Movie Maker
it's not a factor.

I have tried to download it, but it willnot install. I
have gone to the problem solve area and tried to copy the
files like it says, but it still comes up as the MM1
window. I look in the options about list and it says
MM2.0 . I cannot figure it out so I hope someone will
help us. I am running XP2 media center on a HP laptop
ZD7000

Maybe you have version 2 but expect it to look a lot more different than
version 1... see the picture I have of what to look for to see if you have
version 2... it's on the Setup > Software page of www.papajohn.org - about
1/2 way down the page at the right side.
