Windows XP losing domain connection on Windows 2003

R

Robb Guyer

I am having problems with windows XP logged into a Windows
2003 domain. When the computer sits idle for an extended
amount of time (I don not know just how long yet) it
disconnects from the domain and I am unable to start any
programs on the domain server without logging out and back
in. I tried to go to my network places and access the
server from there when the computer was in that state but
received a message upn receiving the logon and entering my
information that the user was already logged in with that
name and I would have to first log out. I have 5 Windows
XP workstations and they all respond the same, so I
believe it is the setup of the 2003 server. Any help
would greatly be appreciated.

I have the same problem with my XP machine. This problem, for me, developed in the last couple of weeks and seems connected with a recent patch update. I can no longer ping this machine either...

Its not because of win2k3 i can tell you that as I have the same problem and
I dont have win2k3 - win2k a/s and nt4 server.

I see this all over newsgroups as a problem, and yet can find no mention of
it on Microsoft.com anywhere...

DOES ANYONE HAVE AN ANSWER FOR THIS ??

Rob,

I am having the same problem with Win XP client and Win
2000 Server. IF you read the posts, this seems to be a re-
occuring problem with connecting to a Domain. I'm
inclined to think that the problem is not on the server
side, but some Local or Group Policy in XP. Although, I
can't figure it out and neither can my net guys. Fyi -
My idle time is approx 15 minutes.

Anyone have any ideas?
