From your description, this has nothing to do with WinXP; you're
describing a BIOS password. Ask the computer's owner what he set it to.

That sucks - but if you never see the Windows XP logo loading/logon screen
for Windows XP - this is not a Windows issue. Read your hardware manual on
how to reset the BIOS password.
