Windows XP License

Anyone know how to transfer a license from one computer
to another? I just got a new computer and put XP on that
and put Windows Server 2000 on the old one... Thanks in
advance.

Some licenses may not be transferrable.

OEM licenses, such as those that come pre installed on a new computer
system, are permanently locked to the first computer they are
installed on and are not transferrable to any other computer under any
circumstances.

Retail licenses are licensed to the purchaser and are normally
transferrable from computer to computer to computer provided the
license is only ever installed on a single computer at any given
point.

If the license require activation (e.g. Windows XP) then once that has
been accomplished there is no further action required.

Greetings --

Assuming a retail license (OEM licenses are not transferable),
simply remove WinXP from the computer it is currently on, and install
it onto the new one. If it's been more than 120 days since you last
activated that specific Product Key, you'll most likely be able to
activate via the Internet without problem. If it's been less, you
might have to make a 5 minute phone call.
