I have a small home network of 3 computers running
Windows 2000 Pro and I now have a laptop with Windows XP
Pro on it. When I try to map to one of hte other
computers from my laptop I see the computers but none of
the shared files or printers. Any help would be
appreciated.

Make sure all computers are in the same workgroup and that all useraccounts
exist on all computers. Got File- and printersharing loaded?

Hi,

I have a problem related to this topic. My new Win XP Home laptop is logged
on to my Workgroup, but My Computer doesn't show the existing Win2k server,
Win 98 & Win XP Pro machines that are already in the workgroup. But it is
able to access the 2k server machine by typing its UNC name. But I am
unable to browse through the workgroup.

Please let me know if I am missing a setting. I found somewhere on
knowledgebase that I have to turn on NetBios over TCP/IP on all of the
machines, but surprisingly my Win 98 machines have that option disabled !

Ideas?

Thanks,
Siddharth

You have a W2K-server? Is it working in domain- or workgroupmode?
Turned off the firewall on the XP?
Logging in with a username that already exists on the server?
