Hi everybody who can help.
I have a problem with Realtek RTL8029 network adapters. We
have a small corporate LAN with some dozen PCs, based on
RTL8029 NICs, coaxial cables (using the BNC connectors of
RTL8029) and Windows network. Some PCs run Windows 98,
some – Windows XP. Now we desided to change the
configuration of the network, meaning to install switches
(8 port) and to change the cables with UTP, respectively,
using the coresponding second jacks of the RTL8029 NICs.
After changing the cables, connected through the switches,
those PCs under Windows 98 are normally connected to each
other, WITHOUT any reconfiguring / setting of RTL8029.
Their LAN is O.K. in other words. BUT, those PCs under
Windows XP are not connected at all. Even the LED
indicators on the RTL8029 don’t light.
What is the reason ? Maybe Windows XP needs some new
setting for RTL8029, I suppose (for example, I know, 3COM
adapters need to change BNC connectors to RJ-45 in their
configuration program).
Thanks anybodi for any siggestions.
