Hi (its my first post so please bear with me)

I shut down my pc on saturday night and it seemed fine. I
went to switch it on on sunday night and it says the
following:

Searching for boot record from floppy......Not found
Searching for boot record from CDROM.....Not found

What does all this mean as this happens when i first start
the computer up?

i have tried inserting numerus floppys and they all come
up as 'boot record from floppy..... ok' but then it asks
me for the boot record from CDROM and i aint got a clue
how to solve this. I cant even get into windows because of
this. Not even safe mode.

Can someone please help me?? :(

The system shouldn't be trying to boot from the floppy or CD-ROM if there
are no disks in those drives, it should be trying to boot from the hard
drive. First, make sure there are no disks in either drive. If both drives
are empty, you may need to reset the boot order in the System BIOS. When
the system begins to boot, an early screen, usually the first screen,
contains a message specifying a key to hit if you wish to enter setup, when
you see this message, do so. Once inside, you'll need to navigate around
until you find an option that specifies the boot sequence, which drives to
check and in what order when booting the system, see if the Hard Drive is
first in line. If it is, it's possible the hard drive has failed and you
will need to take it to a shop unless you are able to replace the hard drive
on your own.
