Hi Everybody -

I sure would appreciate some help with a very confusing problem I am having.

Each time I start Word 2000 the Windows XP installer gives me a message to
please wait while Windows configures Microsoft Office Small Business Edition
(I don't have this problem with Excel)

The problem started about a month ago when I downloaded a Word brochure
template that started in Word 2003 when I double clicked on it (Word 2003
was preinstalled on my computer when I bought it a year ago). I prefer Word
2000 so I don't use Word 2003, but I didn't want to remove it in case I
needed it for something later.

I tried repairing the installation of Word 2000 from control panel
add/remove programs, but that didn't help. Is there any way to fix my
Windows XP and MS Office installation so Word 2000 starts without going
through the configuring process every time I start the program?

Thanks for any help.

The cause is almost sure to be two versions of Word on the system at the
same time. In their boot time preloads, etc., they are stepping on each
other. The programs are smart enough to recognize that though, and switch
themselves around so everything will work right.

You will either have to Remove one of the Word programs, or remove and
reinstall them correctly to get them to co-exist. That can be a little bit
of frustration; been there, done that <g>. It's too wordy for me to tell
you how to do that; you'll have to do some research unless someone has
something handy for you.
