Windows XP Installer problems

Problem:

When I attempt to re-install the software for my HP PSC
1200 series Printer/Scanner on my Dell Win XP Desktop PC,
I receive the following error message twice (at ~50 % and
80% on the "All-In-One" progress bar)

Title: Msiexec.exe -I aiosw.msi
transforms=setup\1033s.mst -{*"C:\program F.
"Error opening installation log file. Verify that the
specified log file location exists and that you can write
to it."

Once I've clicked OK on both dialog box the installer
stops without completing the installation. I'm able to
install other software (i.e. Smith Tech's Snag-it and
Intuit's Quick Tax) without problems.

Troubleshooting Measures:
- Updated Win XP from CD provided to me by Dell
- Upgraded system with SP1 through MS support portal (as
per MS Knowledge base)
- Cleared all Temp folders (as per MS Knowledge base)
- Enabled Group Polices through gpedit.msc on Installer
(as per MS Knowledge base)
- Used Disk Clean up tool (as per MS Knowledge base)
- Deactivated Read Only permissions on the TEMP folder
(as per MS Knowledge base)

Any other suggestions?
