Hey!.. I had the ame problem when attempting to upgrade from Win-Me...XP
didn't work right...
Reverse the system bac to Win98 2nd. Edition...it made it half way
thru...then I started getting missing files errror message...
Finally, fomatted my C: drive,reinstalled win98, no prob, proceeded to
upgrade to winXP and whalla!! everything worked excellant... a friend had a
similar problem did the same thing and it wored for him to...
It's a drag but I guess over the years my system just oiced up a lot of
jun/crashes etc...but it runs very good, very fast, it's cool, good luck,
